Hammer drive anchors — also known as drive pin anchors, hit pins, and nail-in anchors — are versatile fasteners that work well in a wide range of light-duty fastening applications. You can use hammer drive pins with an assortment of base materials such as brick, concrete and concrete block. They provide a solid, permanent binding solution for installations in dry, preferably indoor environments for items weighing 50 pounds or less.
Drive pins are designed for fast, easy installation. They come preassembled and consist of two components: the anchor and an attached nail. To install a drive pin, drill a hole at a depth of at least 1/4 inch into the base material. Clean out all dust and debris from the hole. Grasp the head of the anchor with the nail sticking out and insert the anchor body into the hole. Ensure the anchor head is snug against the surface of the base material and strike the head of the nail with a hammer, using several sharp blows until the nail head is flush with the anchor body head.
When installing multiple nail-in anchors, be sure to locate them at a minimum distance of at ten times the diameter of the anchor. For instance, if you are using 3/16-inch anchors, you should place them at least 1.9 inches apart.
